Are you planning to learn coding in 2023? Or have you tried to learn coding before but ended up giving up because you just didn't have the time for it? Whether you are picking up coding to learn a new skill or just want to try it out as a hobby, here are some ways to help you stay accountable to your learning goals:

1. Set specific and achievable goals

We often set goals that are unattainable or unrealistic. You might even set goals that are too broad and vague. We recommend setting small bite-sized goals like "I will learn HTML and CSS for at least 20 minutes a day". This will allow you to slowly get into learning coding without feeling forced or rushed to learn everything at once which may even demotivate you in your learning process. Achieving bite sized and specific goals will allow you to feel confident in doing it again, eventually becoming a part of your routine.

2. Find an accountability partner

You should consider finding a friend who can help you stay accountable to your learning goals. By having an accountability partner, you will be able to learn together and check on each other's progress on a daily basis. An accountability partner can even offer you support and encouragement especially on days where you may lack the motivation and intention to continue with your learning journey. This is a great way to help you stay on track.

3. Join a community

Being apart of a coding community is another great way for you to stay accountable to your learning journey. You can make friends or even find yourself a mentor that can help you learn better. Self-learning can be lonely and demotivating, which is why joining a community can help you to meet new people that are like-minded or have the same goals as you!

4. Publicly document your learning progress

In this day of age, social media has become a big part of our lives. When you tell others what your goals are it makes it harder for you to resort to giving up. By publicly sharing or documenting your learning progress, this can help you stay motivated to achieve your goals. This can also be a fun activity for you to have after every learning session which might even inspire others around you to start learning coding together! Plus, this is also a great way for you to track your progress and remind you of how far you have come in your learning journey.

If you are interested in learning to code, join our Complete Software Development Programme and be apart of a community with like-minded individuals who are beginners in coding just like you. We also provide unlimited support from our experienced mentors that can help you learn better.
